Curtain and Custom Fabric Care: How to Keep Them Looking Great for Years

Curtains are among the largest fabric surfaces in your home, and it shows: dust, dust mites, and odours build up faster than you'd think. Yet curtains often go uncleaned for years, simply because it's hard to do at home.
Why curtains need cleaning
Curtains hang open in the room day and night, catching dust, smoke, cooking fumes, and sunlight. That doesn't just cause build-up of dirt — sunlight can also fade or weaken fabric over time. Regular cleaning significantly extends the lifespan of your curtains.
How often should you clean curtains?
As a rule of thumb: once every one to two years for a regular living room, and more often in a kitchen or a home with smokers. If anyone in the house has allergies, cleaning yearly is recommended, since curtains hold onto dust mites and allergens.
Why not just wash them at home?
Because of their size, curtains often don't fit properly in a regular washing machine, and drying them at home leaves creases and folds that are hard to iron out. For lined curtains or ones with a special pleat, washing can also damage the shape and the fold of the pleats.
Custom work requires craftsmanship
Besides cleaning, we also offer custom work: from making new curtains to fit, to adjusting existing curtains for a new window. That way your interior stays exactly the way you envisioned it.
